I killed my Child in the Future

Dear Child,

I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry my dearest daughter … I'm going to kill you before giving you a chance to live.

I'm sorry for snatching away your right to live, even when you're just my dream.

I always wanted you to be mine. Dreamt and loved you like forever now. But now I don't want you to be born in this world. Yes. I don’t!

A world where you have to fight constantly to just live. Where you have to be vigil every minute to just breathe.

I don't want those annoying aunties to stare at you when you chose cars and guns along with your dolls. Or give you an earful when you opt for shorts and jeans over frocks and skirts. I don't want you to be forced to have long hair just because you're a girl.

I don't want you to worry about the world before you decide to do anything. I don't want you to live in a world where you'll be tagged as opinionated, stubborn and ruthless when you stand for yourself. Don't want you to fight and struggle against the egos of the opposite sex when you climb those ladders in your career. Nor tag you as a slut when you go for a movie or dinner with your male friend. I don't want you to be called a flirt when you prefer male friends over females. Or a whore when you chose to be sexually active.

I don't want you to worry about been safe when you're working late. Or be told that been a girl you have to ignore those disrespectful behaviors from your boyfriend/husband/anyone. I don't want you to wake up from your sleep multiple times to ensure that you have bolted the doors and no one will intrude your privacy. I don't want you to be born in a world where suffering, forgiving and been silent is considered as the virtues of women only. A world where male strength is considered as a gift to abuse women…. No, my dear… I don’t want you to be born here.

Don’t think I’m against men; in fact I still love and move forward in life because of the men in my life. But now a day it’s rare to find such souls. And it’s not about men only. When you start living you’ll understand even some women are there to make your life terrible.

I wanted you to be born in a world where you're respected for the human being you're. Cared for the goodness you exhibit. Appreciated for your bravery and not for the perfection others demand.   I want you to be loved for the kind nature of yours and not because you're born a Woman.

I want you to be born in a world you deserve dear. And I promise my child, that you'll feel a lot happier and safe inside my dreams.

Yours Always.

Day 22 - May Challenge 2013

This post is part of BEDMC.

Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel.

Just Human Beings!

Gender discrimination and stereotyping is one thing that has to be demolished from the earth’s surface. Let the person grow up as a great human being rather than been tagged coz of their gender.  Even before a child is born he/she is differentiated based on their gender. Pink for girls and blue for boys. Dolls for girls and cars/bikes for boys. Girls are taught that they are inferior to boys from day one. If the baby is a girl, she is sweet, delicate and serene. And if it’s a boy, he’s strong and tuff. Aren’t both babies sweet and delicate and soft as a fur?

I am a girl and ‘m proud of my femininity. But hate it when it restricts me from doing/going somewhere. Depending on your sex, certain behaviors or preferences are discouraged,  as if they belong to one gender over another. There's a 13 year old guy (lil bro) at my home, who thinks domestic chores is exclusively entitled to women. Being a girl doesn’t mean all she cares about are clothes, make-up and boys or she is solely for home making. Every girl studies as hard as boy, do her best in all extra-curricular, get in to good college and gets into a profession. In a professional space, there’s no special considerations for deadlines or working hours. If you are working for them, you work as they want. There everyone is just colleagues. But once you step out of the work space, then its, men are from Mars and women from Venus.

As a child I wore frocks, skirts and adored dolls, played video games, watched WWE, climbed trees n jumped over walls, and was the handyman at home. My first friends were guys and now also guys top my friends list, but there are girls too, those I will never tradeoff for anything in life. And now i love skirts, but prefer jeans coz of its comfortability and I don’t step out of the house without the shine of lip gloss. When I go for high heels, I look for sneakers too. I wear gents’ watch and have a huge collection of bangles. I prefer chunky mobs than the sleeky ones. What we wear and like completely depends upon us, and not our gender.

Women is considered as the most fragile and vulnerable living thing and it became so coz many people still view women as a lesser gender then men. The experts link the mistreatment and abuse of women to the social and economic reality of women’s lives—the web of discriminatory attitudes, values, behaviors, structures and institutions that undermine, isolate and marginalize women.

Many families don’t even prefer a girl child, esp. in India. A family with a girl will pay a dowry to her husband’s family when she marries.  So a girl means the family will lose money or property on the wedding day.  A boy means the family will gain those things. Males are also seen as providers who will stay with their families and be less of a burden. So instead of abolishing the dowry sys, baby girls are abolished. I personally know a couple who’s’ from a privileged, educated class and who didn’t give God a minute’s peace for a baby boy. Even now there’s a huge gender gap between boys and girls, with the fairer gender’s ratio considerably lower than the boys. So what about after a few more years?

Being girl means you are not strong, brave enough to defend yourself, provide your family, or courageous to step outside after dark. But being a man is an admonition of strength, courage and firmness. And the faintest hint of girlishness in them results in lifelong harassment. So even before they start walking, they learn to hate pink, dresses, fairy tales, dolls, dance and anything feminine.

Even in relations people expect men should always take the first step. They feel men should always pay for a date, call within the first two days, meet their beck and call, be a certain height, and always ask them out. If a woman pays for a date or proposes first does the sky falls down? In Britain and Ireland it is a tradition that women may propose marriage only in leap years. Does that mean women should keep their feelings locked until a leap year comes?

Kick out the gender stereotypes and discrimination's and live lives with all your behavioral patterns, likes, dislikes, emotions, girlishness, boyishness and just try to be good and a kind person with respect for your fellow beings. Whoever you are, man or woman, you are truly awesome and blessed. :)

P.S. Cherish all the facts that do not fit the stereotype of your gender.

God Blez.

P for ... ...

P is for "Perfect Guy for Me".

According to Indian society the right age for marriage for girls is before 25. And if a girl choose to remain a bachelorette till 28 or 29 then she'll have to face the questions from society like, "Why are you still single? Do you have any problems?, Are you in a relation with anyone?"........... Ufffff.........!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now as I am nearing my 24th Birthday, I am also going through this phase of "right time for marriage".

So, if ever, someone who in their right mind thinks about spending the rest of their life with me do read on please…. and others too if you wanna know my kind of guy! ;)
Hey Buddy… Welcome to the world of insane mixture of emotions!!!  :)

I am a not so sweet and humble, but stubborn, adamant, arrogant, irritating, virtuous, independent, lovable n a caring female. I am not gonna change and if m forced to tune to your ways m gonna hate u for that, but if I choose to change myself for you, then obviously you’re truly awesome! So deal with me as I am. :)

I should love the way you talks. I don’t know what it means… but I have an instant likeness to people who talk really well. That doesn’t mean you have to be a talkative.  But..... Aaaah…….. I don’t know to explain.

I am in love with Shah Rukh Khan(Indian movie actor) ever since I have seen him acting. So you better love him and allow me to drool over him whenever he’s on screen. And be prepared to watch his movies over and over.

Isn't he such a cute guy???!!

Talking about movies, I love the English romantic drama P.S. I Love you. And whenever I feel like having a good cry, then, that’s what I do.

I love food, but that also depends upon my mood swings. I can go without food when m lazy ;), so what m asking is, Do u know how to Cook? ;)

Do you ride a bike?? If not, learn!

Chocolates.  If you get me one choc, once in two days then m happy.

Flowers. Once in a while it won’t hurt to turn up with a single flower.

I love roaming around. Be ready dude.

Long drive. I LOVEEEEE esp. at night. Be prepared to drag out of bed @ the middle of the night for a long drive and an ice cream. ;)

Beach.  My 1st love. You should take me there whenever I demand, irrespective of the time, schedules, job, tiredness or whatever.  :)

Movies. I prefer theaters than home screen.

If you have a problem with my friends-list either in person or in FB, with majority of the close ones being guys…. Learn to deal with it. Coz I dun intend to get them out my life just coz you came along. And actually they have been with me longer than you. And they are really good and at times may switch to your side to bitch about me. Happy??

Your female friends!! Ok. No issues if I like them. Or else…. We need to discuss about that.

I don’t love you. I don’t miss you. I hate you. … These phrases from my mouth have the exact opposite meaning and if I say I love u or I miss u, i really do that to the extreme.

I am not someone who gets jealous that fast, but once I feel that emotion, watch out!

If ‘m possessive about you, then, you mean to me more than I admit.
If you are a cricket/sports fan who could leave everything for a match… sorry dear… it’s not gonna work.

“Males are superior to females” attitude??  Keep it deep within yourself. It won’t be entertained a bit.

I love books. And I need time to indulge myself into reading.

If you think i would all the chores while you enjoy sitting simply, Never!! I am a strong believer of gender equality.
At times m moody, and then give me my space. Or else u’ll just have the worst time.

I am a good listener, you can talk to me anything. And I don’t understand hints; do tell me exactly what’s there in your mind.

I can be a good friend :) and a better enemy. :P

Once in a while a morning coffee is appreciated like heaven. :D

If you have any problem with me, tell me and deal with it. We’ll argue, fight, shout and solve it. But don’t you dare to give me a silent treatment, I hate it!

I don't wanna change my surname to yours once you tied the knot, But i don't mind having two surnames. ;)

Mmmmh..... Anyways done for the moment. But the list goes on n on. So when can we meet to discuss further?
I'm telling you, me and all my friends do feel sorry about you... but i assure, You really are Lucky! ;)

Happy living with me. :)

Ok. On a serious note, ‘m generally good person and a peace lover, so don’t worry much. We are gonna have a Blastful life! ;)

P.S. God blez you Sweetheart! :)

G for ... ...

After a day's off... Back to the Challenge.

And today it's

 for "Gender Stereotype".

Definition: Requiring a person to act or dress a certain way based on his or her gender.

Everyone is expected to act or do based on their gender. And if a girl does something which is stereotyped as a man's thing, then she has committed a sin against her gender stereotype. Then obviously I am sinner.

And these are my sins against Gender Stereotype.

  • Played video games right from 5 years and even now if I can fight it out from my bro.
  • I like to look at women than men coz they are more interesting... now don’t get me wrong.  It doesn't question my heterosexuality
  • I hate going for beauty parlors except for haircuts… and ‘m obsessed with haircuts. 3-4 months is the max I can hold myself from without getting my hair chopped.
  • Have in-numerous scars in my knees and elbows from in-numerous falls.
  • I need to have the remote in my hand.
  • I have the min saturation point when it comes to shopping. I get bored so damn easily. ( bt not in a book shop) and I dun mind shopping alone.
  • Outing late at night…. Count me in. Always.
  • I don’t love cooking. It’s when necessity arrives I push myself to cook.
  • Public display of affection??? NOWAY!!!.
  • I will absolutely not do something simply because a woman is supposed to do it. Like say, being the one who gives up a career to care for the child; being the one who makes tea for the guests; being the one who clears up after a party. But I will do all of that, because I WANT to at that moment.
  • I always have a tendency of doing something when ‘m warned not to “coz your a girl” (I hate that very phrase).
  • Nothing other can make me more irritating than hearing Eve was made out f Adam’s spare rib.
  • Have more guy friends than the female.
  • Why does an unmarried Indian woman over 28 have to answer the World and Her relatives why she isn't married yet? Why is remaining choosy at 30 plus seen as a sign of 'sour grapes' or a desperate excuse for masking faults?
  • My favorite color is black/blue.
  • Love books more than tailoring, embroidery and crochet or cooking.
  • I would rather go out in my PJs than taking the pain to change.
  • Can never flutter my eyelashes and make cow’s eyes at people to get them to listen to me. I would rather say it like it is and get a yes/ no from them. In a nutshell I am quite dense in the department of displaying feminine wiles.
  • I don’t mind proposing the guy I love or asking him for a date. (why, only a guy can do the proposing n standing n knees stuff??? )

P.S. Every person is an individual and unique in their own way.

God Blez.
