E is for ...

Engagement! 

She looked at her mehendi filled hands, custom made clothes, jewels, high heels. Seeing them just made her all excited and a bit nervous. Tomorrow she was going to enter a new phase of life, getting into a new commitment. Her engagement day.  

The phone buzzed breaking the thread of her thoughts. It was a message from her best friend. There was a time when she found herself falling for him, but was scared to admit and jeopardize their friendship. So she kept her feelings for him locked away in the threshold of her heart.

“Nervous??? … Come down very soon… ‘m freezing in front of your gate!!!” .... the message read.

She stared at the screen for a second and then suddenly tiptoed without waking the crowd at her place. And like said, there he was in that freezy climate.

“What you doing here, at this time?”

“Hop in… let’s go have a coffee. It’s so cold.”

“Are you alright? I am not coming out with you at this time. If someone sees me I’m dead!”

“What yaar?? Tomorrow you’re gonna get engaged and I’ll have to ask permission from your Fiancé. But now you are still single and just my friend.”

“But….”

“Shut up and come!”

Arguing with him, she got into his bike.  Even thou she kept her feelings for him to herself, the moment he asked her parents her hands for marriage she just find herself falling head over heels in love with him again.

She closed her eyes and enjoyed the night thanking her stars for sending him into her life… as her best friend.
