C for ... #AtoZChallenge2016

 "Concentrate on Yourself"

Hey you,

Every morning you wake up and just start rushing off either to work or to the routines of the day. Have you ever taken a minute to be just being with yourself?

Every day you spend minutes to hours in front of the mirror to make yourself ready for the world. But have you ever actually looked into you, and smiled at yourself?

Every day you spend hours talking to people all around the world. But have you once talked to yourself, even for a second?

Why?

Why do we tend to ignore ourselves all the time? We got enough and more time to do everything the world demands, but not even a minute for ourselves. We give up sleep, food and all other comforts to finish that project but never a second to be with ourselves.

Have you ever congratulated yourself when you have finished that project or got a promotion or did a good job? Have you ever taken a minute to look in the mirror and admire yourself or said "You're beautiful. I love you."

Why?

We tend to look at everything and everyone around us, and most of us compliment and congratulate others for the things they do. We admire other souls for their inside and outside beauty. We wish we were like them. But why we forget ourselves? Why we never give a pat on our own shoulders or give a treat to ourselves when we are happy or just like that?

I believe when we concentrate on ourselves more, we become a more happy and productive person. We all crave for attention and compliments and good words. Then why not give all those to ourselves when we really can do that. You're what you think and say out loud. When you believe you're beautiful, talented, happy and gorgeous and say it out loud often then you're that. We all have a morning/night ritual. Make it a habit to just look into you and be proud of yourself every day. No matter what, fall in love with yourself over and over again, because who can do that better than yourself?

Yours,
Me.

  1. Susan, it's something we often forget and we have this uncanny habit of pushing self against the world. I will try to do it. Great writing on the prompt:)

  5. Yup, I seem to be the only selfish person here who cannot do without her me-time everyday! Just kidding...but of course one does need to focus on one-self to give others their best. What beautiful thought to write about?!

  6. My lovely lady, this is something that should be made into a habit - like brushing your teeth, taking a bath etc. Loved your thoughts

  7. One reason why we tend to ignore ourselves, is so that we don't seem like selfish prats in front of other people! (Did I already say that?)

  10. That was beautiful Sheethal. And what I don't get is, why is this with every single woman? I mean, every damn woman would relate with this and all of us know this as well, but still we fail to please ourselves. Why do we prioritize others above ourselves? It's so ingrained in us, that no matter how much we try, it'll never leave us!

    Good one :)

    1. I think women have a perspective that they should tend to others more than themselves. High time that it need to be changed.

  11. This was lovely Susan! I do need to check on the mirror and pat myself every once in awhile! It's just that we are our worst critics, we fail to see the everyday small success stories we accomplish. I needed to read something positive like this! Thanks for this positive thought Susan :)

  12. I cannot agree more. One needs to learn and love oneself, if he/she has to live life to the fullest.

  14. I have been trying to incorporate this into my life for sometime now. Somedays I succeed, other days I'm my biggest critic. We are kind and caring towards others and often put ourselves last. That has to change if we have to be happy. Well written, Sheethal!

  15. Sage advice. Nothing is more important than oneself.

  16. True. Unless you learn how to love yourself first, you will not be able to truly love anyone else!

  17. I believe this is what Jesus said to love others as we love ourselves. How can we achieve this commandment without loving ourselves first. I will smile at myself in the mirror today. ;)

  18. Excellent advice. We often put ourselves last as we focus on family, friends, or projects. but as I like to remind myself, if I don't take care of me, I'm no good to anyone else. @sheilamgood at Cow Pasture Chronicles

  19. I think we are uncomfortable facing ourselves. But we need to start doing this. It gives more meaning to our existence!

  21. Very wise words. Complimenting oneself on achieving things is truly the path to being happy. Good luck for the A to Z Challenge.
