Priceless Gift

"Mumma... What's in there?" .... Arnav asked his mother.
"A gift for you"
"Gift? What gift? Car? Aeroplane?"
"No darling"
"Then what? Can I see it mumma?"
"Not now. You'll have to wait."
"How long?"
"Until it's time"

......................

"Daadi, when will mumma come home?"
"In a few minutes beta.... with your gift."

Arnav wondered about this gift. Everyone have been telling him about this. But what was that?
Just then his parents came and he stared at the bundle in his mother's hands.

"Arnav, this is the gift I promised you. Your little sister. Be with her and take care of her always. She's all yours."

Going back ...

It's not everyday you meet a person to whom you start asking,  "You too?"... at every other sentence.  That's the story of Bhavya and myself. She's a person who writes from heart connecting herself and the people around her beautifully. An idealistic dreamer.

Few days back during our chitchat in whatsapp she tossed an idea about us combining together for UBC, when I was literally on the verge of giving up the challenge. And even before she could rethink and say No, I tricked her into doing with my sweet talks :)

So from today we'll be doing the UBC together, each writing on alternate days, starting with Bhavya our own Ishithaa girl. :)

The arrival of the train kind of matched with the beginning of the torrential rains. Rains are nothing new in this part of the world, but it is the timing that caused her to wonder. Like the storm that struck in her life fifteen years back and led to her being uprooted from her home town, today the rains were continuous and heavy without thunder and lightning...exactly the way she liked...maybe this was nature's way of apologizing for her fury fifteen years back. It had taken her a long long time to finally fall in love with the rains again and that too was partially the reason she was reaching out to the city she once left for good. The other reason was one she held very private and not many people knew about. She came seeking closure. She knew the questions she had could not be answered by anyone; yet she came. She had to. For him.

The unexpected rains took the city by surprise and it seemed to definitely have interfered with the normal life of the people here. Seven minutes ticked by before she could hail a rickshaw that would take her to the bungalow where she had lived her childhood.

The giant mango tree beneath which they played hide and seek, sat in whose branches for hours reading the numerous Amar Chitra Kathas their grandpa bought them, eating the hot pakoras their grandma made, Latha and Suresh had spent their childhood together and were inseparable. Nobody saw either of them alone without the other in tow. Her train of thoughts was interrupted by the rickshaw jumping in and out of the numerous potholes along the road to the palatial naalukettu that once was her home. Her home where she spent her childhood and where she met Suresh for the first time.

Time flew by and from friends they became best friends. At the dawn of their youth, by the time they realised they were in love but sadly before they could soak up the warmth of the feeling called love, Nature unleashed her fury and took Suresh away as if he belonged to her; as if she was snatching away what was rightfully hers and never Latha's.

The news of her Suresh leaving her alone was one of the biggest blows life had given her. It took her a while to come to terms with her loss and through the struggle many a times she had come close to deciding that enough was enough and that she would call it quits. But she knew what Suresh would have wanted and that's what kept her moving.

Now she felt ready - to visit and relive those old places without the fear of the old wounds being reopened. To finally bid good bye to the pain associated to her adolescent love and to move on and lead a happy life.

Life is only once.

These days, we all leave behind the "living" part to later and focus mainly on money making and making our life better. But what if, we never get that later part... what if it becomes too late when we are done with our job and responsibilities and all set to enjoy...

So once in a while, do remember, that...

1. You are not here forever. Life is like a long vacation granted to you. When God feels like you had enough fun here, he just calls you back, even without any warning.

2. We often hear so much of good words about a person during his funeral service. Hundreds of people visit him with flowers and tears to pay tribute. But none of them was there just to say a "Hai" when he was alive.
What's the use in praising someone when he lays there cold, lifeless and emotionless?

3. We think we got a lifetime to express ourselves to our loved ones. But do you know till when is this lifetime? It may end with the blink of your eyes.

4. Words hurt. And like used weapons we can't take back the words we said. Say sorry when you have to. Cos when you realise that your words had hurt others, it might be too late.

5. Live the moment. Do what you wish to do with life today and stay happy. Give time to your family and loved ones.

6. Hate is a very strong emotion to take to your grave. You are not gonna achieve anything by hating someone. But by loving and forgiving, you are growing strong and beautiful.

7. People come and go in our lifes. No one stays there forever. You are gonna miss every one of them at one point or the other. So cherish every moment you have with each other.

How he loved you?

How he loved you?

I don't know.
And it'll be more easier to say how I love him.

I love him for the son he was to his mom
I love him for the brother he was to his sisters
I love him for the friend he was to his friends
I love him for the person he was to me
This is how I love him.

I love him for the similarities he had with me
I love him for the differences he has from me
I love him for the stubbornness we shared
I love him for sharing the same birth date
This is how I love him.

I love him for the anger he never bestowed upon anyone else except on me or a dear one
I love him for the over protective hands on my shoulders
I love him for the twinkling jealous in his eyes
I love him for his tears for me when he miss me
This is how I love him.

I love him for his love for beaches
I love him for his love for speed
I love him for his love for insignificant gestures
I love him for his craziness
This is how I love him.

Don't why he loved
Or how he loved me.

But I loved him for who he was,
And still, I do!

Bounced back

She hated herself for the situation she was in... she wanted to get out but backing off or quiting is there in the option presented by them. She knew she could be shattered trying to win this one. But there seems to no other way.

She had a whole world of opportunities and imaginations. But now that world looks like a mirage. Something that's not there but still you see it. She had everything but was so unreachable. Blaming herself and the situations didn't take her anywhere. There were days when the world waked up to new beginnings, she took refugee under her blankets. And nights when dark engulfed she could cry till she was tired. But as days passed she gained energy from her tears and sadness and before her grief could destroy her she bounced back with a new spirit and a flame in her eyes to conquer her world with a smile noone could erase.

A New Start!

A brand new beginning of a glorious year. 2014. May this year be good to all of us.

I was/am never person of resolutions. I'm more towards the impulsive or spontaneous nature. I laugh when life gives me happiness, cry when it hurts me, get disturbed when something bad happens, feel inspired when it motivates me... just a person who lives as her life takes her. Likewise, this challenge was also a decision out of impulse. But when you have some awesome friends to push you, there's nothing to fear. :)

So I'm starting my New year with a month long Blogging challenge. :) ...

Happy New year Friends! :)
